Cook Islands Cruises

Safe for the fortunate few European explorers who managed to stumble across the Cook Islands, the Cook Islands remained an isolated and exotic place, shrouded in no shortage of mystery and awe due to the limited knowledge available about it.  Even to this day there is a great deal of myth and misinformation about the islands, and it seems that the term Cook Islands Cruises is something of a misnomer.

The island derived its name from the English explorer, Captain James Cook who “discovered” it in 1773. Cook himself was not responsible for naming the islands after himself, but rather, this was an honour bestowed upon him posthumously. The curious aspect of this is that he was not the first European to actually discover the islands for the Spanish had beat him to the mark in 1606 with the first actually recorded landfall. The Spanish dubbed the island “Gente Hermosa” which translates as the beautiful people and little wonder.

When you book your ticket for Cook Islands Cruises you can be rest assured that you will have beautiful people, beautiful scenery and plenty to see and do.

Perhaps one of the greatest pleasant surprises concerning the Cook Islands Cruises is that despite the fact that they have so much to offer, they have not yet succumbed to the inevitable ravages of long term tourism. The islands have managed to keep their inherent charm and culture, without sacrificing it in the pursuit of naked profits.
